- We aim to help lessen the impact of crime and/or trauma on victims, witnesses and their friends/families- Provides services to victims/witnesses of crime and/or trauma who may or may not have reported the crime to police or be involved with the criminal justice system- All services offered are free of charge and are confidential, however, we are required to report to RCMP any information about a situation of unreported violence in relationships, child abuse, or danger to self or others upon disclosure- Services include, emotional support, practical assistance, information on the status of the police file, information on the Criminal Justice System, Court Support including court orientation and accompaniment, assistance with official forms, e.g. Crime Victims Assistance Program (if eligible), Victim Impact Statements, information on safety planning including home security and personal safety, referrals to other agencies and services, and crisis intervention.- If you are a victim of crime, British Columbia’s Victims of Crime Act gives you the right to receive information about: Victim Services available to you, Crime Victim Assistance Program; how the criminal justice system works, the status of the police investigation, and court case, the administration of the offender’s sentence, your rights to privacy.
